Well done to the 5th and 6th class pupils who continue to run laps daily to close in on completing our Marathon Challenge! We are now two thirds of the way there!
We are linking this activity to participation in the national Daily Mile initiative, which aims to get more children running in a non-competitive way. Well done to everyone for all their hard work and to Tomás McDermott, co-ordinator with the South Dublin County Sports Partnership who has been supporting us.
Since starting the Marathon Challenge two and a half months ago, 5th and 6th class have now passed the half way point! We have increased our minimum daily run to 15 laps (approx. 870 metres) so we’re well on the way to our goal. The aim is having fun and supporting one another in a non-competitive way.
As part of Edmondstown NS’s St. Seachtain na Gaeilge and Patrick’s Day celebrations, each class performed at a special concert on March 16th. Each class presented either a dán (poem) or amhrán (song) paired with a little dance. We are always looking for ways to incorporate physical activity with our learning!
A big well done to 1st and 2nd class, who recently completed their running challenge! Each day the class ran several laps around the shelter, marking each one on their progress chart. They have now met their goal of 5km and their progress chart is displayed on the school’s Active School noticeboard!
A big congratulations to Mrs. Cleary’s Junior and Senior Infant class which completed its 3 kilometre running challenge! The group start in late January and ran several laps of the shelter each day to work towards their target. For each lap, they coloured in one box on their progress chart, which we have displayed on the school’s Active School noticeboard. Well done!
