After a long Active School Week full of new games and activities, it was time for another whole-school active line! We will continue to hold active lines, led by the ASF committee pupils, each day after small break as it is part of our routine now and a student favourite! Today was extra special because it was the end of ASW as well as the end of term. To mark the occasion, the Junior and Senior Infants showed us the Safe Cross Code dance they learned!
Throughout the day, pupils from Infants up to 4th class took part in orienteering activities with the support of Mr. O’Dwyer’s 5th and 6th class. The activities were pitched in an age-appropriate way to challenge and amuse the pupils. Check out their fun in the photos below!
Ms. Collins’s 3rd and 4th class enjoyed a fun photostar orienteering activity today! A big thanks to the boys and girls of 6th class who set up the controls in advance and kept the photos organised throughout.
The pupils worked in pairs to follow a given photograph of a readily recognisable location on the school grounds. Once their, the pupils had to find a control and mark it on their control cards. Each location had its own letter and 2-D shape. When pupils found all the clues it made up a word: EDUCATION.
Pupils then had to co-operate to play ‘Stop the Bus’. Pupils had to think of words that started with the letter ‘D’ under several headings: boy’s name, girl’s name, county, country, animal and food.
3rd and 4th class really enjoyed the activity!
