Today, the boys and girls of Edmondstown NS were lucky enough to have the incredible swimmer Ellen Keane visit us to talk about her career! Ellen has been a swimmer with the Irish Paralympics team since she was 13 years old and has so far competed in Paralympic Games in Beijing, London and most recently Rio! In the 2016 Summer Paralympic games, Ellen won a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke (SB8) race.
Ellen brought her Olympic medal for pupils to hold and spoke about her exciting career to date. The pupils in all classes were inspired by her story of hard work to get where she is today. Below is a video of Ellen’s incredible performance in Rio last summer.
